FUCK! Well activision hold exclusive rights to publish call of duty games so this may be the end of the modern war franchise, unless they give it to the other developers in which case it will be a toss up how it will turn out.
Edit:

When Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey left Visceral Games to form Sledgehammer Games with Activision, you may have jokingly speculated that the Dead Space creators set to work immediately on Call of Duty. After all, it was either that or Guitar Hero.
You would have been correct.
Activision today revealed that Sledgehammer is working on a Call of Duty game with a targeted 2011 release date, which will "extend the franchise into the action-adventure genre." No other details were released about the game, but it sounds more like a spinoff than a sequel. Third person, perhaps? |
Well that looks likes sledgehammer will take over the modern war franchise unless it will be mixed up in legal tape with infinity ward. The turn around on these games is 2 years which is why they split the development between 2 studios so they have a game out each year, so if sledgehammer are releasing one in 2011, i doubt infinity ward would after all that's gone on today.
Saying that though, Infinity ward is owned by activision so maybe replacing the heads of the studios will see the studio make MW3 where they may have wanted to split off and pursue MW as its own franchise. Who knows? Sure we'll find out soon enough. _________________ I'm training to be a ninja.

On another COD related topic, the DLC is rumoured to already be on the disc and you just pay for a code to unlock it.
I love it when developers do that, fix the pissin spawns you slags.
What's also a pretty safe bet is paying for maps that were on COD 4. Jesus, why don't they just start pulling our teets and milking us for all we're worth. _________________
